Breaded Pork Chop Recipe Question And Answer

Seasonings for fried pork chops?

I have a recipe for pan-fried pork chops, and they were okay; however, the last time I tried it, it turned out rather bland. The only seasonings on the pork underneath the bread crumbs (which were mixed with grated parmesan) were salt and pepper. Is there any other seasoning that would be appropriate for such a recipe?

A few of the choices that come to mind are: sage; garlic and/or onion; rosemary; ginger root; a splash of wine; terriaki soy sauce; or anything else that sounds good to you.
I like to brown my pork chops lightly in a little bit of vegetable oil (no bread crumbs). Then mix one can of Campbells Garlic Cream of Mushroom soup and about 1/2 can of milk and pour over the chops. Turn the heat down to about medium low and cook until the pork chops are low. This works really well with chicken too.
It depends on how complex you want to go. There are a few ready-made blends that are good with pork--lemon-pepper, "Montreal Chicken", etc. but if you want to add the flavors yourself and you like a bit of heat, try adding some red pepper flakes, dried sage, and dried thyme to the salt and pepper.
The best thing I've used on pork chops, is Lawrey's seasoned salt. Use with or without bread crumbs, try it with , or without the parmesan. They may be salty enough with out the cheese. This brand of seasoned salt is also most excellent on eggs, done any way.
There is a ready made seasoning made by McCORMICK called "Season All - Garlic" I always sprinkle it on pork or lamb chops before grilling them or if you wanted to make up something yourself you couud grind your fave. spices in a mortar & pestle. Try garlic, chilli ,& rosemary or Corriander , Garlic & Ginger . yum !! Good luck & happy cooking
Try this recipe to jazz up your pork chops. It's an apple glazed recipe and they really are good prepared this way.
My favorite way to have fried pork chops is to salt and pepper them and roll in flour. Then when you put them in the pan to fry, sprinkle rubbed sage over them and cook them over a low to med. heat in a covered pan.
